When you enter our town square — our “Maydān” — we want you to feel a sense of wonder. We want you to forget what you know and we’ll be there with you for every bite. You’ll feel like you’ve met new friends—a new family—who will guide you through the square to a table full of dishes. Spreads, salads, condiments, roasted and grilled vegetables, meats and seafood coming together in unison. Just remember, there is no wrong way to go about this.

The centerpiece of every table is the bread, which we make to order in Maydān’s clay ovens; it is a culmination of everything we love about the regions we focus on. Bread brings the meal together and bread brings people together. We want you to use your hands, making the bread your utensil. Share with your neighbor, break bread with your family and friends.

We pride ourselves on being what we call “armchair tasters”, which is our take on the “armchair traveler”—a genre of literature and movies that takes you on a trip to an exotic locale without leaving the comfort of your own home. So while it’s great to travel around the world, we understand that’s not always possible; instead of waiting for the smells and tastes on a great trip, we’ll bring them to you—in a cozy row home right in your own neighborhood. When we welcome you into our restaurant, we hope you’ll savor our selection of international street food alongside handcrafted cocktails, some quirky beers, and exotic wines. We’re a place for friends and neighbors to come together and feel at home while sending your taste buds out to travel the world.

Sook will feature products from Middle East and North Africa (MENA) makers from both at home and abroad. The shopping experience will include a wine bar and an outdoor to-go window for quick service food items, olive oil, Tahini, ceramics and linens. 

Chef Wedchayan “Deau” Arpapornnopparat of LA’s highly acclaimed restaurant Holy Basil has launched a brand-new concept, Yhing Yhang BBQ, at Maydan Market in West Adams! Inspired by Thailand’s beloved gai yhang (grilled chicken), Yhing Yhang BBQ spotlights marinated chicken slow-cooked over charcoal, served with a selection of house-made sauces and traditional Thai accompaniments. While rooted in the flavors of gai yhang culture, the menu incorporates other items such as grilled seafood, whole duck, and a fermentation program featuring house-pickled vegetables and condiments. This evolution reflects Deau’s signature style—staying true to street-inspired flavors while weaving in new cooking techniques.


Chef Poncho and his team aim to prepare dishes from the communities of the Oaxacan highlands. This region boasts a rich culinary tradition that Chef Poncho, a Zapotec born and raised in Santo Domingo Albarradas, His background in Oaxacan cuisine was further enriched by his experience cooking for indigenous migrant communities in Los Angeles. The term “lugya’h” translates to “the face and heart of the plaza” in Zapotec, capturing the essence of the bustling street markets throughout the Oaxaca highlands. These markets have served as vital communal spaces for centuries, playing a significant role in the social and cultural fabric of Indigenous communities in Oaxaca. They are places where seasonal products and everyday foods are sold and enjoyed.

Maléna kitchen is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the rich tradition of Afro-Mexican Guerrerense cuisine, rooted in tradition and made with heart. We are committed to authenticity, using time-honored methods and ingredients passed down through generations—no modern twists, just the true flavors of our heritage. Every dish is a tribute to our mother’s kitchen, where the first plate was always served to our father, honoring his presence and the foundation he helped build. Our goal is to create a warm, welcoming space where every bite feels like home, filled with the rich aromas, soulful flavors, and deep sense of love and community that shaped our family and our business.

Winding through the stalls of global marketplaces, you never know what you will discover next. At Maydan Market, seven food businesses from every corner of Los Angeles, celebrating an array of cuisines that make up the culinary fabric of the city, come together as neighbors. While each business stands on their own, they gather around Maydan’s shared live-fire hearth, representing the communal spirit of the market.
